& Virginias"

Size: Wingspan is 1 to 1 3/8 inches.

Similar Species: Hobomok Skipper, Clouded Skipper

Habitat: Woodland openings, suburban habitats and edges.

Abundance: Common in piedmont, less common in the western and coastal areas of North Carolina.

Flight Period: First brood late April until early June. Second brood mid July until mid September.

Comments: They seem to take a territory and guard it from other Zabulons and anglewings. Look for them along trails and clearings on leaves usually no more than 3-4 foot from the ground.
