Size: Wingspan is 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches. Similar Species: Northern Cloudywing, Confused Cloudywing Habitat: Open woodland edges, powerline cuts and dirt roads. Abundance: Fairly common in piedmont and sandhills uncommon elsewhere in North Carolina. Flight Period: Two broods but present from early April until early October Comments: The Above Southern Cloudywing was found May 15, 1999 along New Sharon Church Rd. in Orange Co. The one on the right was found in the Caswell Gamelands on August 03, 2001 it was VERY fresh. |
