Ocola Skipper,
Panoquina ocola



Size: Wingspan is 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 inches.

Similar Species: Little Glassywing and Clouded Skipper.

Habitat: Open moist areas, salt marshes and gardens.

Abundance: Fairly common in piedmont and sandhills uncommon elsewhere in North Carolina.

Flight Period: The first brood is slight July thru August Second and a large brood from September to late October. I can't recall even seeing the first brood.

Comments: The top photo was from my garden in Orange Co. North Carolina in August 06, 2002. The second photo was taken in Wake Co., NC on October 04, 2003. The third photo was taken in Orange Co., NC on October 05, 2003. The bottom photo was taken in Victoria Co., TX on December 02, 2004
