Size: Medium about 2 inches.

Habitat: Along ponds, lakes, swamps, woodland edges and openings. Some places they just seem to take over in the summer.

Flight Period: Late March to October

Comments: They mainly perch on or near the ground, on twigs and branches and sometimes on the sunny side of trees. Certainly the most wide spread dragonfly we have in the state.
