Common Baskettail,
Epitheca cynosura

Female above with some black in the wings.

 

Size: about 2 inches

Habitat: Along woodland edges and openings.

Flight Period: Spring

Comments: For some reason the Common Baskettails in North Carolina don`t show the black mantling at the base of the wings very often as shown in the photo above.

The photo at right was taken at Crooked Creek WMA.in Vance County on March 31, 2000
