Size: Medium-large to about 2 1/8 inches.

Habitat: Ponds, lakes and ditches mostly fishless areas.

Flight Period: May - September in North Carolina.

Comments: Known to migrate in the spring and the fall. Found in most of the US except in the upper midwest where it is absent.

This photo was taken in October 2000 at Crabtree Lake County Park in Wake County, NC.
