Black Swallowtail
(Papilio polyxenes)

Sub Family: Papilioninae

Here is a freshly emerged Black Swallowtail drying its wings on a stalk of Bronze Fennel its host plant. This is a very suburban species and is adaptive to urban environments and is very widespread.

Hosts: Fennel, Parsley, Carrot and other umbellifera species.
