Size:
Wingspan is 2 1/4 to 3 1/2 inches.

Similar Species:
None in the eastern US.

Habitat:
Woodlands, powerline cuts, hardwood forests and along waterways.

Abundance:
Common in the eastern piedmont and coastal plain uncommon elsewhere in North Carolina. Found generally where the host plant Pawpaws (Asimina triloba and Asimina parviflora) are found.

Flight Period:
Flies from mid March until mid September.

Comments:
The top and bottom photos were taken along at Catawba Creek in Botetourt Co., VA on April 24, 2003.The center photo was taken in a sand bar along the Eno River in Durham Co., NC on April 28, 2005
