& Virginias"


Size: Wingspan is 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 inches.

Similar Species: None in North Carolina

Habitat: Open fields, disturbed areas, roadsides, lawns and sandy places.

Abundance: Common and widespread.

Flight Period: Flies from mid March until mid December.

Comments: The photo on right was taken in my garden on Apple Mint in Rougemont, North Carolina in July 1998 The chrysalis below was found on Agalinis purpuea in Francis Marion National Forest on October 09, 1999.
