Carolina Leps Listserve!

Jeff Pippen has established an online list server for discussing butterflies and moths in the Carolinas. The name of this electronic mailing list is "Carolinaleps".

Many Carolina Butterfly Society members are already subscribers (subscription is free) and have generated great discussions on such varied topics as butterfly gardening, distributions, flight times, first sightings of the season, identification, photography, and upcoming CBS meetings.

Information about how to obtain a free copy of the manuscript "Notes on the Butterflies of North Carolina, 6th Approximation", an excellent compendium of information by Harry LeGrand and Tom Howard, was posted to Carolinaleps as soon as the manuscript was completed.

The list serves as a forum for butterfly enthusiasts or "butterflies" to discuss all aspects of butterfly life in the Carolinas, including butterfly finding, butterfly identification, trip reports, butterfly counts, butterfly behavior, backyard butterflying, butterfly gardening, butterfly photography, and butterfly club information.

Although most discussion on this list is about butterflies, moth discussion is welcome also, hence the name "CarolinaLeps" (leps being short for Lepidoptera, the scientific name for butterflies and moths as a taxonomic group). A more detailed "info file" will be automatically sent out to all who subscribe to the list.
