Size: Wingspan is 1 7/8 to 2 7/8 inches.

Similar Species:
None in NC

Habitat: Tall grassy areas, wet meadows, upland fields, old fields, open woodlands. Likes woods edges as well.

Abundance: Common in the coastal plain, less common in the piedmont and mtns.

Flight Period:
Flies from early June until late October.

Comments:
The top and second photos were taken at Doughton Park in Alleghany Co., NC on July 28, 2002. The bottom photo was taken in Dare Co.,NC on September 14, 2002
