Size: Wingspan is 1 5/8 to 2 1/8 inches.

Similar Species:
Eyed Brown (northern species)
Northern Pearly-Eye
Southern Pearly-Eye
Little Wood Satyr

Habitat: Rich moist semi open forests near streams or wet areas. Along trails and dirt roads in or along damp areas with sedges.

Abundance: Uncommon to fairly common in the mountains and the piedmont. Rare in the sandhills and coastal plain.

Flight Period: Flies from mid May until mid September.
