Size: Wingspan is 3/4 to 1 1/8 inch.

Similar Species:
Holly Spring Azure
Summer Spring Azure
Eastern-tailed Blue
Appalachian Azue

Habitat: Woodlands, wetlands, pine barrens and over grown fields.

Abundance: Common statewide.

Flight Period: Early March unil late April in the piedmont and into May in the mountains.

Comments: The Edward's Spring Azure at top was found it in a wet area at Raven Rock State Park. The center photo was taken on Febuary 16, 2005 in the Little River Regional Park and Natural Area in Durham, Co., NC. The bottom photo of a male was taken at Occoneechee State Natural Area on March 9, 2002.
