Size: Wingspan is 2 to 2 7/8 inches.

Similar Species:
Great Spangled Fritillary
Atlantis Fritillary

Habitat: Meadows, open fields, wooded sunlit roads and moist tickets at higher elevations usually.

Abundance: Common in the northern mountains at higher elevations less common in our southern mountains.

Flight Period: Flies from late May until mid September.

Comments: This species can be quite common along the Blueridge Parkway in North Carolina`s northern mountains.
