Fulvous Whistling Duck, Dendrocygna bicolor

What they look like just as a Peregrine Falcon approaches!

Just as I snapped the shutter set to a 10 second delay the Peregrine came in and scared up every duck and goose in the entire area! Wings over Water was going on and several groups just missed seeing these rare ducks by just minutes in the mid morning. Just before sunset they came back and several groups finally got great looks. We saw 26 of them, a very good number for such a rare duck in NC!

Above is a zoomed in look at them in flight at a shutter speed of 1/180th second. Below is a huge photo (171 kb) of all the ducks flying off at once full screen.

and 3221 Bogen tripod.
