About Randy

I've been into photography for 31 of my 49 years now and in 1997 I started to specialize in butterflies and have photos of over 250 butterfly species. I have been most active shooting macro subjects and learning about my subjects. I'm a self taught a naturalist with extended knowledge of butterflies, birds, botany, dragonflies, herps and mushrooms. In November 2004 I quit my day job so I could finish my interactive CD on "Butterflies of the Carolinas & Virginias" and do my photography part time.

I also run a handyman business here in Durham, NC and I stay busy doing all kinds of household repairs and finding creative solutions to residential and commercial problems. I have been in construction all my life. I have worked as a carpenter, glass mechanic, automatic door technician for 31 years. I've always been a problem solver which I got from my dad who was also a photographer and later became a TV repairman during the early years of television.

My photo works have been used in about all forms of media since 1997. Most all of my photographic work is generated from the world wide web, please if you don't find what your looking for here don't hesitate to ask for it. I also photograph events, people and parties. My primary cameras are currently a Canon D60, a Canon 10D, a Canon 20D and a Nikon Coolpix 8700.
